About Domain Names (www.mycompany.com)

Question: How do I get my own www.mycompany.com domain name?

Answer: Domain names are maintained in a database run by a registrar. In the past, all .com domain names were handled by Network Solutions Inc. Due to legislation in 1999, other registrars are now able to perform this function. Domain names are stored in a database so that when a user types in the domain in their browser, the registrar's database returns the location of the website. Registrars require a yearly fee for providing this service. These fees average around $35.00 per year. We currently charge a one-time fee to setup your domain name with a registrar, then you pay for the domain name fee yearly either directly to us or to the registrar. The annual fee for newly registered domain name registered by us is currently $20.00 and subject to change without notice. Our current one-time setup fee is $30.00. When you are ready to register the name, please contact us, we will save you money on the registration and speed the setup process if it is performed by us.

Question: I have a existing website hosted with another company, what do I need to do to move it to your service?

Answer: Contact us, we will put in a domain name registration change for you and transfer your existing web to our servers. If you are not listed as the either the billing or administration contact for your website, you may have to contact your current provider and request that you be made such. Visit www.networksolutions.com and do a WHO IS on your domain name (exclude the www part), to see who is authoritative for your domain. As long as you are the billing or admin contact, we can perform the move for you easily.

Answer: Yes, we support ALL versions of FrontPage. There is no extra charge, however, you must specify that you want the server extensions enabled on your web before you can edit your site directly using FrontPage.

Question: How do I get my site listed in search engines?

Answer: We perform this service free and automatically for all our hosted customers.

Question: Ok, my site is hosted by you but I can't find it in the search engines, or at least not when searching for certain topics.

Answer: Each search engine ranks documents differently, and each has a time schedule for how often it updates its index. Most also penalize pages or entire sites which manually submit their site too often, or attempt to 'spam' the index by repeatedly using keywords.
